Donation Information
Since 1977, the Independent Cat Society has saved, spayed/neutered, and adopted thousands of cats to loving homes. That's a lot of kitties! But we most definitely cannot continue our work alone. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, ICS relies on generous gifts provided by our supporters and friends to carry out our mission. Your gift can be directed in the following ways:
- General Operating Expenses: Supports medical expenses, food, litter, payroll for our medication and cleaning staff,and shelter upkeep
- Medical Fund: Specifically supports the medical needs of our cats
- Trap Neuter Return / Assisted Spay & Neuter Fund: Supports our ICS TNR Squad and their operations to help cats in our community
- Building Fund: Goes toward the maintenance of our newly renovated ICS shelter, and to future improvements
- Sponsor-a-Cat: Supports our Sponsor-a-Cat program

ICS Building Fund and RAINBOW BRIDGE GARDEN
If you have visited our shelter, you may have noticed some improvements, including the Joan Hildrenbrand Memorial Adoption Center, and our beautiful Rainbow Bridge Garden.
It has been almost a year since our dreams of a new adoption center came true. Now on to Phase Two! Our main building has been in use since 1991 and has not had a remodel since that time, so our next mission is giving it a much needed redo.
To join our vision for a clean, healthy, and beautiful shelter for all of our cats, please consider a gift of funding of your time in renovation work. We are always interested in help from carpenters, electricians, and other skilled tradespersons.
The Garden was created in partnership with Purdue University North Central students, and is a living tribute to all those pets and other special beings in our lives who have left us.
Commemorate your best friend by purchasing a brick, which will be set in the garden path and can be engraved with any message you would like. All proceeds from Rainbow Bridge Garden bricks go directly to our building fund to help us build new facilities for our cats.

Planned Giving
Planned giving can be a wonderful and rewarding way to help animals while gaining important tax benefits. Every year ICS receives gifts from the estates of people who loved cats and believed in our mission. These donors had the forethought to include ICS as a charitable beneficiary in their wills. Whether it is to provide veterinary care, good, or upgrades to the facility, planned gifts allow donors to continue making a signficiant difference in the lives of the cats at ICS after their passing.
