Join our Volunteer Efforts
Volunteers are critical to the operation of the shelter. Because we are a small non-profit shelter, we rely on our volunteers to help us keep the shelter clean and the cats well-loved. Please let us know if you'd like to join us!
You may also wish to consult our Customer Service manual, particularly if you wish to help with Adoption Counseling or Fundraising.
Below is a summary of our volunteer "jobs:"
- Volunteering at the shelter: Includes grooming and socializing cats, working with volunteers/visitors, and generally being the friendly face that helps our people and our pets know that they are well cared for.
- Help with Fundraising events: We are always in need of people to help at our many fundraising events, including running booths at local vendor and craft shows, participating in the setup of events like our annual Fundraising Dinner or Black Cat Strut 5k Walk/Run, and leading teams of volunteers during our winter Sweetherat Contest.
- Baking or Cooking for Events: If you like to cook or bake, lend us a hand during our yearly events such as our Sweetheart Day, Book Sales, Yard Sales, and more.
- Making Crafts to sell: Do you like to make cool stuff? If you would like to donate crafts for us to sell during Yard Sales, vendor fairs, and other events, we are always looking for new items.
- Distribute ICS flyers and newsletters: We can always use help with publicity and getting the word out. If you like making the rounds, we would love to have you on board.
- Providing Foster Parenting (must be 21 or older): We are always in need of good foster families. If you are interested in this opportunity, visit the Foster page to learn more.
- Grounds/gardening: We can always use a little help beautifying our property. If you are the outdoorsy type, we would love your help in making ICS the best it can be.
- Maintenance: Are you handy with tools and equipment? We could use your help in ensuring that all of our building maintenance is up to date.
